Year 1 FAQ

• What should I bring?

Bring a tea set for your daughter--a tea cup and saucer, ready to use but wrapped or in a gift bag.  Bring a tea set for yourself and if you have guests, a complete set for them too.

• What else should I bring? 

Bring what you signed up to bring: food, teapots, plants.  Do look over the signup and see if we can add more food and whatever else we lack. Do bring your food already plated.

• What should my daughter and I wear?

Wear something classically dressy--an elegant representation of modesty--as it is our hope that our daughters will grow in authentic femininity through events such as these and by our example.

• What time should I arrive?

The bell for tea will ring at 1:30 p.m.  Arrive at least thirty minutes before to give yourself time for the tasks below, and to enjoy some music and conversation with the other moms.

•   What happens when we arrive?

1. Stop at the registration desk so we know you've arrived.
2. Pick up the first year scroll (fuschia-colored paper).
3. Find your assigned table and place the scroll with your daughter's wrapped tea set.  Place your own tea set next to your place name.

• What next?

1. Place your plated food at the serving table.
2. Fill your teapot with hot water from the kitchen. Choose your tea flavor and be ready to steep when the bell calls us to tea.
3. Make sure you have a plate of scones at your table.
4. If you want jam for your scones, or cream and sugar for your tea, bring those to your table from the kitchen.

• What can I expect during Afternoon Tea?

You will be called to tea by a bell.  First bell is for moms to find their tables, steep their tea, and wait for their daughters.  Second bell is for daughters to find their moms.  We will give them enough time to read their scrolls.

After opening remarks and prayers, we will introduce our speaker who will give a short talk while we enjoy tea and scones at our tables.  Kindly refrain from getting up during the talk.  The serving table will open after the talk and the remainder of the tea is for enjoying the rest of our treats and socializing.
